What is User Experience? There are many Words for the same Concept - Consumer Experience - Usability
- Do Brands hold up? If your user experience isn't there, it won't matter.
- There's a change now in who's doing what on the web?
Are you developing with users in mind? < Many Raise Hands >
Are you focused with making it useful, or making it cool? (Can't it be both, here? The best are...)
Hick's Law - Hick's law, or the Hick-Hyman law, is a human-computer interaction model that describes the time it takes for a user to make a decision as a function of the possible choices he or she has.
Fitts' Law - In ergonomics, Fitts's law (often cited as Fitts' law) is a model of human movement, predicting the time required to rapidly move from a starting position to a final target area, as a function of the distance to the target and the size of the target.
Tesler's Law of Conservation of Complexity - To be more accurate, Tesler's law says that for any process, there is a base level of complexity that is inherent to that process. Once you hit that base, you cannot simplify the process any more. You can only move the inherent complexity from one place to another.
Does this make sense? Are these BS or not? Well, yes, they do. But, are people observing them? That's a really good question.
How do you handle dealing with ads? You can have a kickass page, but add in an ad, it massively changes the effects. Plan for the ads from the getgo instead of bolting them on.
"There's no need to bring an architectural firm to make a shed." Places like MySpace are sheds. They don't need to be pretty, they need to work for their creators.
We need to "build homes" on the web.
