Mobile Web
From BarCamp DC Wiki
Presented at BarCamp DC, August 11th, 2007 jointly by Jackson Wilkinson of Viget Labs and Keith Casey of CaseySoftware, LLC.
Jackson covered some of the strategy aspects and considerations while Keith covered some of the development and implementation issues.
The key aspects:
- In the US, there are approximately 30M mobile web users out of approximately 270M devices. The US has lagged in this area because of the relative cheapness of computers and computer-based access.
- There are numerous context differences between the mobile and computer-based web. The interaction methods, usage environment, and users' goals are fundamentally different and often affected by device or carrier-imposed limitations.
Further information and opinion should be added by someone who is not me. ;) --Keith Casey 10:19, 12 August 2007 (PDT)
